Important Algonquin Treaty Negotiation Update

Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation's official representation at the Algonquins of Ontario Treaty Negotiation Table was interrupted by the sudden death of Chief & Algonquin Negotiation Representative Stephen Hunter on June 27, 2022.

On August 25, 2022, our Community's official representation, including full rights & voting authority were re-established. Our position was secured though a successful motion at the AOO Treaty Negotiation Table which approved Robert Hunter as the Interim Algonquin Negotiation Representative for Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation, pending a scheduled November 2022 ANR Election.

We would like to thank all of the Algonquin Communities at the AOO Table for their support in this unprecedented situation. In particular, we would like to thank the Whitney & Area Algonquins for their unwavering advocacy on behalf of our Community & Interim ANR Team.
