Child and Family Centre Programs
The Anishinaabe Baptiste Community Organization and the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation Community have partnered with North Hastings Children’s Services to administer Algonquin Inòdewiziwin, the Ministry of Education EarlyON program through the Journey Together funding with Hastings County. This program is funded by the Government of Canada and the province of Ontario.
The Algonquin Inòdewiziwin Child and Family Centre offers a range of programs designed to promote the health and well-being of Indigenous children and families. These programs are grounded in traditional Indigenous knowledge and practices, and are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family. Among the programs offered are early childhood education, family support, mental health services, and youth programs. The Centre also provides cultural programming, including language classes, traditional arts and crafts, and cultural ceremonies.
The Centre is committed to promoting Indigenous language and culture, and works to create a safe and supportive environment where children and families can connect with their heritage and traditions. The programs offered by the Algonquin Inòdewiziwin Child and Family Centre are an important resource for Indigenous families in North Hastings, and play a critical role in promoting the health, well-being, and resilience of Indigenous children and communities.
