We welcome Rebecca Stevens-Green to our team!
Rebecca is a member of the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Community. Through this role, she hopes to learn more about Algonquin history and culture and to find ways to effectively communicate them.
She recently graduated from the University of Guelph studying Molecular Biology & Genetics and Psychology through the Arts and Science program. Rebecca is interested in research and has worked on a project studying how the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum affects cereal crops. She’s also interested in environmental conservation and has worked on a project focused on using genetics to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Rebecca has interests in writing and communication, she’s written articles for the University of Guelph’s newspaper The Ontarion and helped create the iGEM Guelph podcast. In her free time, she likes to go on canoe trips with friends and family, read & write fiction, bake chocolate chip cookies and she’s learning how to paint. Rebecca looks forward to learning more about the Algonquin culture and meeting community members (even over Zoom)!
